City to vote on whether to rent out Alpha Center

The Brenda Travis Historical Education Foundation is interested in renting space in the Alpha Center library when renovations are completed.
Travis has been active in the Civil Rights movement. Her arrest for participating in a sit-in sparked the October 1961 Burglund High School walkout.

Road crews on standby as icy weather threatens

Crews stood ready to lay sand on bridges and close the downtown bridge in McComb as bitterly cold weather brings the threat of freezing rain and icy roads later tonight and early Friday morning.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the area from 6 p.m. Thursday through noon Friday.

City hall still closed

The reopening of McComb City Hall has been delayed until Monday due to at least six employees who work on the first floor of the building being infected with COVID, the mayor said.
City hall closed at 3 p.m. Friday and was scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning, but Mayor Quordiniah Lockley said it would remain closed until next Monday.
