Man gets 20 years for spree of mayhem

LIBERTY— A man accused of a wave of mayhem in Amite County — including setting fire to heavy machinery and a hay barn, burglarizing numerous homes and businesses, breaking into a helicopter, cutting power lines, spray painting a house and driving a trackhoe into a pond — was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Monday morning.

Two-sport signee

North Pike High School senior Zackery Boyd officially signed Friday morning to play two sports at Southwest Mississippi Community College next season.
Boyd will be a shooting guard on the basketball team and play golf and major in business.
“It was just a place that I fit in best with and it’s just home,” he said.

Black History Gallery's Burglund exhibit runs through April 30

The Black History Gallery in McComb is celebrating the city’s sesquicentennial with a look at one of its oldest neighborhoods, Burglund.
Burglund, Elizabethtown and Harveytown were the three communities incorporated into McComb when it first became a city on April 5, 1872, Black History Gallery founder Hilda Casin said.

City cracks down on event centers after shooting
