RIDGELAND — North Pike’s softball team is undefeated in the postseason and a game away from winning the 4A State Championship.

The Lady Jaguars defeated West Lauderdale 3-1 in Game 1 Thursday in a best-of-three championship series at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

The McComb girls team won its second consecutive 4A State Championship at Pearl High School on Friday, but the coaching staff is not complacent and has goals to prepare the Lady Tigers to compete nationally.

Two away from title

North Pike’s softball team is just two games away from winning the 4A State Championship for the first time and will play for title in a best-of-three- series against West Lauderdale at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

Game 1 is at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Game 2 is at 11:30 a.m. Friday and Game 3, if necessary, is Saturday.

ASC makes costly errors in playoff loss

LIBERTY — Errors and mistakes proved costly to the Amite School Center baseball team in Game 1 of the 2A Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Championship at home Tuesday night against Wayne Academy.

The Jaguars defeated the Rebels 17-9. Game 2 is at Wayne Academy at 5 p.m. Friday and Game 3 will follow there if necessary.
