Parklane crushes MRA, advances in state tournament

Parklane Academy advanced to the winner’s bracket finals of the AAAA softball state tournament with a 6-1 win against Madison-Ridgeland Academy at Shiloh Park in Brandon on Saturday.

Lady Pioneers’ pitcher Hannah Creel threw all seven innings, giving up no earned runs and two walks while recording one strikeout.

Four errors and an inability to close innings enabled Lawrence County to get all its runs with two outs in the first and fourth innings en route to an 11-1 victory in five innings at North Pike Tuesday.

The Lady Jaguars’ (5-3, 2-1) loss was their first in district play during the 2016 slow pitch softball season.
