Board amends ordinances

McComb selectmen on Tuesday night amended five city ordinances, including one that would strip Mayor Zach Patterson’s supervisory authority over city employees and department heads.

The vote on the amendments was 4-2 with selectmen Melvin Joe Johnson and Robert Earl Smith opposing the changes.

McComb lawyer Norman Gillis could receive a total of at least $73,838 from the City of McComb for representing the city in its 2002 dual-office lawsuit against David Myers.

Pike County Circuit Judge Mike Taylor ruled in his opinion on Wednesday that the city owes Gillis $12,500 for work on the Myers case.
