LIBERTY — Students at Amite County High School scored better on the Subject Area Tests in 2009-10 than the year before, and missed making the state average in Algebra I by 1.4 points, according to state figures for the high school.

Superintendent Dr. Ben Cox said Thursday that increased enrollment in the school district — especially at the elementary and middle schools — is forcing construction of the new building a year ahead of schedule.
