Magnolia OKs metal panels for Family Dollar: Contractor: Stucco facade too costly

Faced with the possibility of losing a business, Magnolia aldermen on Tuesday granted a variance to Mainstream Partners to use metal on the sides and rear of the Family Dollar Store it’s building.

Aldermen voted 3-2 to grant the variance, with Aldermen Bud Flowers and George “Lucky” Chaplain opposing.

Group ready for cleanup: KPCB aims to up participation

Suzanne Womble had a message for members of the McComb Lions Club — “there’s gold in them ditches.”

Womble, with Keep Pike County Beautiful, told Lions that gold — as in gold-painted rocks — will play a part in the annual Great American Cleanup on April 18.

Magnolia will hold its ninth Mardi Gras celebration this weekend, featuring a parade Saturday and a two-day festival with rides, arts and crafts, and entertainment.

Activities begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, with carnival rides, games and entertainment on East Railroad Avenue in front of the Central House Antique Mall.
