Davis, who could soon be a judge here, discusses new court district

Vincent Davis has had a broad legal career, running his own law office, working as a prosecutor, serving in the state Senate and now as a chancery court judge, and he hopes to continue doing the latter in Pike County when new court districts take effect in 2027.

Cook hired as police chief in Magnolia

Magnolia officials shook up the leadership of the city’s police force Tuesday as aldermen swore in a new chief and eliminated the assistant chief’s job.
Longtime police officer Lamar Cook is replacing Sonya Woodall as police chief. The South Pike School District hired Woodall as its full-time school resource officer on Thursday.

The Mississippi State University Extension Service held a health fair Wednesday morning at the Southwest Mississippi Community College Regional Workforce Training Center, where attendees received information about local programs and services, as well as health screenings and flu and pneumonia vaccinations.
