County, mall settle tax dispute

Pike County supervisors have settled a long-running tax dispute with the owner of Uptown McComb mall, bringing an end to years of litigation surrounding the worth of the shopping center.
Board attorney Brandon Frazier said during Monday’s board meeting that officials with the county and Rockstep Capital mediated the case.

Public defenders seek $20K pay increases

Alert system for area proposed

Pike County residents could soon receive emergency notifications on their cell phones, Civil Defense Director Tina Reed told supervisors on Monday.
Reed said her office recently tested a mass notification service, and supervisors indicated their eagerness to put it in place.
