MEADVILLE - Vintrice Briggs was in the zone Saturday night, and for the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs that meant everything. Briggs scored a career high 31 points to lead Franklin County to a dominating 82-65 victory over Wilkinson County in the semifinals of the Region 7-3A Tournament.

MEADVILLE — A 38-foot buzzer-beating shot by Wilkinson County’s Kenyon McDonald gave the Wildcats a stunning 71-70 win over the Franklin County Bulldogs in the opening round of the Region 7-3A basketball tournament Wednesday night.

With the win, the Wildcats assured themselves a berth in the Class 3A postseason.

MEADVILLE — Bobby O’Quinn found out he’ll have plenty of familiar faces around him when he plays college football.

O’Quinn signed a football scholarship with Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Wednesday, the first day high-school seniors are eligible to sign college letters of intent.

Franklin County sweeps hardcourt pair from Amite County

MEADVILLE — Senior forward Edward McGhee sank two free throws in the final seconds to seal the Franklin County Bulldogs’ 54-49 win Friday night over the Amite County Trojans.

The win was the Bulldogs’ first in Region 7-3A this season. McGhee scored a game-high 18 points for Franklin County.
