McComb DYB slates umpiring clinic

McComb Dixie Youth Baseball will hold an umpires clinic for anyone interested in umpiring games this summer.

The clinic will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Sammy Williams Building at Edgewood Park in McComb.

The classroom instruction will focus on field mechanics. Cost is $25 per umpire.

Pike burn ban through weekend

Pike County supervisors issued a burn ban until Monday, as county emergency management Richard Coghlan predicted that even Thursday night’s rain wouldn’t be enough to stop wildfires.

“That’ll give these volunteer firefighters a break over the weekend,” Coghlan said at Thursday’s board meeting. “They go from one fire to the next.”
