“Cauley apple: Once widely grown throughout the South in the 1800s, the last remaining specimen was discovered in Grenada, Miss., in 1919, and all existing trees derive from that one. Fruit is solid green, ripe in August, large, 4 inches or bigger, stores well, good for both fresh eating and cooking.
