Magnolia seeking grants for 2 projects

Magnolia officials are applying for two grants that could help fund city construction and beautification projects this year.

The board is applying for a Land and Water Conservation grant and a Recreational Trails Program grant. Both are from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

12 pounds of high-grade pot netted

Authorities in Amite County arrested a Gloster woman Thursday and reportedly confiscated 12 pounds of high-grade marijuana with a reported street value of $29,000.

Patricia Gordon, 43, 485 N. Liberty Road, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy.

A McComb man wanted for the October rape of a 16-year-old girl is being held on a $1 million bond after he allegedly threatened another woman in the city, fled to Long Beach and was captured Thursday.
