Smithdale man dies in Franklin County wreck

A Smithdale man died Thursday night in a one-vehicle accident in Franklin County.

Jimmy Lynn Gatlin III, 34, of 330 Nunnery Road, was pronounced dead at the scene on Burt Jordan Road, about four miles north of Highway 98, Franklin County Sheriff James Newman said.

Woman succumbs to wound

A Pike County woman died Saturday of a gunshot wound she suffered Jan. 10 as officials investigate circumstances surrounding the shooting in which her husband also was wounded.

Susan LeMieux, 57, and her husband Glenn LeMieux were involved in a Jan. 10 shooting at their home at 1039 Moak Reeves Road.
