Rains bring flood hazard to area

Area civil defense directors reported heavy flooding was trapping residents in their homes and submerging roads, making travel treacherous after a drenching rain system hit the area.

The area was under a flash flood warning until 11 this morning after 5 to 13 inches of rain fell over the past three days.

Man surrenders on attempted murder charges after fracas

A McComb man facing attempted murder charges surrendered to authorities this morning after he allegedly repeatedly stabbed another man in the chest on Saturday.

McComb police Detective Sid Boyte said Stanley Alexander, 34, was wanted for allegedly stabbing Edward Green at Green’s house at 110 West St. around 8 p.m. Saturday.
