Walthall sheriff Dillon laid to rest

TYLERTOWN — Friends, family and law enforcement officials from across the state honored the life of Walthall County Sheriff Duane Dillon Thursday.

Dillon, who served a term as Pike County sheriff in the 1980s before becoming sheriff of his native Walthall County in 1997, died of cancer at his residence on Nov. 30 at the age of 67.

Appeals Court upholds Anderson due process ruling

The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans on Monday upheld an earlier ruling that awarded $150,000 in back pay to former McComb police Lt. Mark Anderson, saying the city violated Anderson’s due process rights when he was fired in 2009.
