In 2007, Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree’s wife, Johniece, contracted breast cancer.
She chose not to tax her body with the chemotherapy and radiation treatments typically used to battle the cancer. Instead, she and her husband relied on prayer.
The plan worked, as the cancer disappeared and she remains cancer-free today.
