What started as a friendly competition between two brothers just a week ago turned into a countywide fundraising effort for a local animal shelter Friday.

First responders from across Pike County gathered at Fox’s Pizza in McComb to help raise money for the McComb Animal Shelter, facing off in the legendary Big One challenge.

McComb selectmen revisited a discussion to give city employees a cost-of-living raise at a work session Tuesday, but the board is not likely to vote on the matter in the near future.
