State’s virus cases still easing down

For the second day in a row, new cases of COVID-19 in the state of Mississippi decreased from the previous day.

Mississippi State Department of Health reported 497 new cases Friday afternoon, delayed from the usual morning report. There were 701 new cases reported Thursday. The total number of cases for Mississippi is 92,432.

Lincoln sees 1 death, big uptick in cases

Lincoln County reported on Thursday one new death due to COVID-19.

The county also reported 18 new coronavirus cases, nearly five times as many new cases as some nearby counties, according to a Mississippi State Department of Health report.

There were 24 new deaths in the state reported Thursday.
