The flow of carbon dioxide, saltwater and oil from a well blowout in Amite County was stopped at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and evacuees are “likely” to return home this afternoon, Denbury Resources officials said today.
A five-mile stretch of Highway 570 will remain closed, however, as site cleanup continues.
