Up for the down stroke: McComb wins district opener

McComb head coach Hilton Harrell and junior big man Mitch Thompson agreed, the Tigers were able to handle Port Gibson’s 7-footer Jamarious Sykes.

The Tigers won 64-47 in the opener of District 6-4A for the two teams.

The differing views come on which dunk of the night was the best.

Southwest sweeps Delgado: Fight interrupts first half of men’s game

The Southwest Mississippi Community College basketball teams wrapped up their games for 2007 on Monday night, but it wasn’t without two blowouts and a fight in the crowd that the calendar year was pushed out the door.

The Lady Bears improved their season record to 9-1 with an 88-48 win over the Delgado Lady Dolphins.

Centreville’s second half wins No. 7 for Hurst

CLINTON - The Centreville Tigers went through a whole lot of work for a ring their coach might only wear once.

The Tigers 36-21 win on Friday night over Marshall Academy gave head coach Bill Hurst his seventh state championship in his career. It’s his first since 1999 when Centreville played in AAA.

Hogan, Adams lead in routs

The Parklane girls 22-point halftime lead was eclipsed only by that of the boys, who owned a 23-point advantage at the break.

Both Pioneer basketball teams went on to win at home on Tuesday night over the Adams County Christian School Rebels.
