Pioneers hit stride

The Parklane Pioneer boys held on for a win against the Lamar Raiders on Friday night. They did it without two starters for the final three minutes to win 66-60.

The girls reversed their fortunes from the previous meeting with Lamar, winning 49-30 over the Lady Raiders.

LIBERTY — With district tournaments two and a half weeks away, wins are getting harder to come by and it no longer matters whether it’s by one point or six.

The North Pike girls were taken to the buzzer by the Amite County Trojans in Liberty on Tuesday night and hung on for a 39-38 win.

Bears sweep Bobcats

The Southwest Mississippi Community College boys finally got back into the action on Monday, winning their first division game of the season over Jones County Junior College, 79-74.

“It came down to, we wanted to win,” Southwest head coach Bill Wallace said. “We needed a win.
