Alcorn State’s Hamilton takes big plans on road

Alcorn State’s new athletic director Dr. Darren Hamilton hasn’t been at Alcorn State very much in his first 90 days on the job.

He has put 12,000 miles on his car and is about 1,000 miles behind on its maintenance because of his busy travel schedule.

McComb wraps up winner’s bracket, faces Walthall

The McComb 8-year-old coach-pitch All-Stars wrapped up the winner's bracket in the district tournament on Wednesday in Magnolia.

They didn't earn a day off, though. The Summit All-Stars haven't had a bye and won their elimination game 16-1 to cut the teams down to three.

Pine Hills ends Summit’s season; Natchez rolls on

GLOSTER — One team continued on its tear, while another got to continue its season at the 9-year-old All-Star tournament at Pine Hills on Tuesday night.

Pine Hills beat Summit 9-8 to move on and eliminate Summit. Natchez, meanwhile, returned from its 21-run win on Monday night with a 20-0 win over McComb.

The big question for Ole Miss baseball coach Mike Bianco at the South Mississippi Ole Miss Club on Monday night was “what happened?”

At one time the Rebels were ranked No. 2 in the nation and were expected to go far. Then the SEC schedule started.

The season didn’t head south, but it did level off.
