There are two numbers that are important for the Southwest Mississippi Community College women’s soccer team.

The two are intertwined as 18 — how many players coach Kim Bullock has at her disposal this year, should lead to the one — the first win for the program.

Champs return: Baseball team returns home to parade, fanfare

An eight-hour ride home from LaGrange, Ga., was extended by 10 minutes as the Dixie Youth AAA World Series Champions were welcomed back to McComb on Sunday evening.

The McComb 10-year-old All-Stars defeated Troup County, Ga., 13-3 Saturday night to win the first World Series title for a McComb team.

On Friday night, McComb defeated Louisiana 3-2 to advance into the final day of the Dixie Youth World Series in LaGrange, Ga.

Zach Thomas drove in all three McComb runs. Thomas hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the first inning after Tag Gatlin was intentionally walked.

It may have lasted an entire week, but McComb only needed five innings on Saturday to win the 2008 Dixie Youth AAA World Series in LaGrange, Ga.

McComb won 13-3 over host Troup County, which had defeated McComb earlier in the series.

Ben Coney pitched all five innings for McComb.
