Two wild games give Parklane series win

The Parklane Pioneers hit and hit and hit, but Parklane’s Alex Price made sure Jackson Prep stopped hitting.

The Pioneers won 17-16 in eight innings in the opening game of a home doubleheader before Alex Price carried a no-hitter into the fifth and Parklane beat Prep 10-4 in the nightcap to take the division series.

Southwest loses heartbreaker, blowout

A bad opener and a heartbreaking seventh inning in the nightcap were separated by six solid innings for the Southwest Mississippi Community College softball team.

The six innings were missing a couple more runs as the Bears lost 4-3 in the nightcap and 9-0 in the opener.

Southwest falls in doubleheader

Seven runs in its first two innings weren’t enough to keep Southwest Mississippi Community College afloat Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears lost 11-7 in the opener and 17-2 in the nightcap to Faulkner State Community College of Bay Minette, Ala.

North Pike tops McComb to finish season

The last time the McComb Tigers lost to North Pike they went on to win 13 of their next 17 games.

With the playoffs starting Friday, the Tigers (14-12) could use some momentum, but first they’ll have to do what North Pike was able to on Monday — get clutch hits.
