Olympian Ferguson returns

Sheniqua Ferguson got some on-the-job training this summer for what she might be doing once she graduates from college.

Ferguson, a sophomore at Southwest Mississippi Community College this fall, not only won a IAAF Junior World Championship gold medal, but represented her home county of the Bahamas at the Beijing Olympics.

First game mistakes costly

The kicking game made the difference on Thursday night in Southwest Mississippi Community College’s 15-13 loss to Mississippi Delta.

Even though the Bears blocked both a punt and an extra point, a poor punt in the fourth quarter set up a short field the Trojans used to take the lead with four minutes left.

Rivalry kicks off

There hasn’t been much that has separated McComb and South Pike the last two years.

The Tigers have shut out the Eagles two years in a row, but haven’t been able to light up the scoreboard either, winning 7-0 and 6-0.

For this year’s game, the teams are looking like opposites on offense.
