Quarterback Walter Mason had his breakout game against East Central last season as he threw for 300 yards after coming on in the second half to lead Southwest Mississippi Community College to a come-from-behind 25-21 victory.

“That would be nice,” Southwest head coach Charles Anthony said. “We need to have someone step up right now.”

Southwest’s win streak: Bears win second straight

With division wins under their belts, the Southwest Mississippi Community College soccer teams stepped out of division play for a draw and a win on Tuesday over East Mississippi.

The men won 2-0 off goals from Marshall Ngobidi and Matt Lofton. The women drew 1-1 after 110 minutes of play.

McComb tops Petal on senior night

On McComb volleyball’s senior night Tuesday, the Lady Tigers’ four seniors didn’t do anything different than they had the rest of the season.

McComb beat Petal 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-17) in one of three warmup matches before the Tigers open the playoffs a week from Saturday.
