North Pike girls beat Brookhaven, boys come up short against Mendenhall

The North Pike girls defeated Brookhaven 56-51 as the Lady Jaguars used their inside presence to slow down the game and get some buckets.

Kayla Hughes and Laiha Pevey combined for 25 of North Pike’s 56 points. Hughes put in 15 and Pevey 10.

South Pike girls top McComb, boys fall to Tigers

The South Pike Lady Eagles defeated McComb for the third time in four games this season on Wednesday night.

The Eagles won 50-47 to avenge last Saturday’s 51-44 loss to the Tigers.

The North Pike Lady Jaguars’ 12-point lead a minute before halftime came after seven straight points, but McComb scored six to finish the half and let enough air out of North Pike, giving the Tigers a springboard to the come-from-behind win.

The first day of McComb’s Holiday Tournament featured five games involving Pike County teams. Those will dwindle over the next two days as McComb faces North Pike tonight and South Pike on Wednesday.

Rematches were the rule for Monday as the South Pike Lady Eagles and McComb Tigers beat teams for the third time this season.
