SMCC swept by Gulf Coast in season finale

The Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears watched two games fall away in their regular-season finale on Saturday.

Southwest lost 13-3 and 5-4 to Gulf Coast.

In the opener, Josh Smith hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to bring the Bears to within one run at 4-3.

Jaguars win South State

Raiders blank Pioneers 7-0

Jackson Academy had two players the Parklane Academy couldn’t figure out in the Pioneers’ 7-0 loss on Tuesday night.

Starting pitcher Franklin Keys held the Pioneers scoreless for six innings before leaving the game. Michael Martin hit three home runs and drove in six RBIs for the Raiders.
