10 teachers, 3 students have virus in Pike

Pike County schools have 10 teachers and three students confirmed to have COVID-19, according to new data released from the Mississippi State Department of Health on Wednesday.

There are also 18 teachers and staff and 16 students in quarantine in the county, health officials said.

City legal dispute with housing authority nearing end

The City of McComb is close to wrapping up its litigation with the McComb Housing Authority over the collection of garbage in public housing units.

After meeting in executive session Tuesday, the city board voted to remove the housing authority from the city’s Waste Management account.

State sets grim record in COVID-19 deaths

Mississippi reported its highest COVID-19 death count since the pandemic started on Tuesday, reporting 67 deaths for a total of 2,315.

Of those reported Tuesday, 44 occurred since Monday and another 23 were confirmed from death certificates from July 1 to Aug. 17.

Since May, Pike County has seen multiple break-ins on Haygood Circle; Oakdale, Van Norman Curve and Parklane roads; Higgins Drive; and Green Acres Lane.
