City may take over Alpha Center

McComb officials prepared Tuesday night to take over ownership of the Alpha Center and boost its status as a community center for the Baertown neighborhood.

Mayor Quordiniah Lockley said the McComb school board is scheduled to discuss the property this month and consider whether to transfer the title to the city.

Crematory vote passes with little discussion

The hubbub over a request to establish a crematorium in downtown McComb subsided to virtual silence Tuesday when the city board unanimously passed an amendment to part of its zoning ordinance.

The board changed the permitted uses under the C-2 Highway Commercial District by adding “crematory” to the list.
