Walthall road, bridge projects progressing

TYLERTOWN — More of Walthall County’s road and bridge maintenance projects are underway or about to be.

County engineer Jeff Dungan told supervisors Wednesday that the State Aid-funded project to repave Darbun Road is about halfway completed, though progress was likely to be delayed by rains at the end of the week.

Walthall school residential lease matter resolved

TYLERTOWN — Among several 16th Section land matters, Walthall County school board attorney Conrad Mord reported a happy ending for one ongoing situation.

A man with a residential lease on 16th Section who was almost a year behind in paying the required property taxes finally made the payment earlier this month.

S. Pike students off virtual, back in class Jan. 25

South Pike students will return to classrooms on Jan. 25.

The district went online only starting Dec. 14, before the Christmas break, when cases of COVID-19 began to spike after Thanksgiving gatherings and in anticipation of further spikes after Christmas and the New Year.
