Magnolia man on lam after fleeing authorities

A Magnolia man is still on the lam after fleeing from investigators on foot.

Pike County Chief Investigator Chris Bell said investigators received word that LaDarius Hackett, 25, 2270 Jim Thomas Road, Magnolia, was allegedly selling firearms at a convenience store in the Sherman community.

Chamber seeks to boost retail sector

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is hoping it can bring retailers in Pike County together and make residents see the value in shopping locally.

The chamber recently held a “retail coalition” meeting at the Magnolia Electric Power building on Highway 98 to brainstorm ways to promote local shopping.

Aldermen saluted Boy Scout Troop No. 124 of McComb for planting four trees at Reid Memorial Park for Arbor Day.
