Nurse not guilty of murder

BROOKHAVEN — A Brookhaven nurse who was accused in 2014 of killing his fiance’s 13-month-old son was found not guilty Friday in Lincoln County Circuit Court.

Judge Michael Taylor heard the weeklong trial of Jamaal Brown, who worked as an Registered Nurse at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Courtney Holder, 27, of Magnolia took over as manager of PALS Rescue Inc. after former manager Amy Branch took a new job.

Holder, who’s worked at Southwest Animal Hospital and Tamor Veterinarian Service, said she’s worked with PALS through her former jobs and loves the experience.

Triad holds 1st seniors event

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department held its inaugural Triad meeting Tuesday at the Pike County Safe Room in Magnolia.

Sheriff Kenny Cotton said he wanted to begin a Triad program in Pike County because he’s seen success in other departments with the program that links lawmen with senior citizens.
