Dixie Springs employees recall good times, mourn loss

In the aftermath of the fire that destroyed Dixie Springs Cafe, employees are remembering the brighter days spent there.

Cheryl Young, 53, worked at Dixie Springs Cafe for 28 as years as a server.

She said while her pay was decent, it wasn’t the money that kept her at the cafe.

3 more arrested in statutory rape of Amite girl, 13

Three more men have been charged in the statutory rape of a 13-year-old Amite County girl, bringing the number of arrests in the case to four.

Sheriff Tim Wroten said Kaderic Webb, 18, Keeon Spencer, 18, and Bentarius Stewart, 19, all of Hazlehurst, remained in the Amite County jail today, each held on $25,000 cash bond.

Dixie Springs Cafe, a landmark southwest Mississippi restaurant whose roots date to 1939 and was the venue for numerous first dates, wedding anniversaries and Christmas parties, burned to the ground early this morning.
