It’s hard to stop bad publicity

I couldn’t help but note the irony of pleas by two city officials — 55 years apart — to curtail bad publicity in McComb.

In 1964 someone called the Enterprise-Journal to report that a large group of African-Americans were gathering at the Pike County Courthouse in Magnolia.

The Speed Graphic years

An Associated Press article and picture in the newspaper the other day got me to reflecting on my experiences with the Speed Graphic camera.

The story was about Jerry W. Keahey Sr. donating his Speed Graphic, with which he was pictured, to the Civil Rights Museum in Jackson.

From among the dead

Within the span of two weeks I received a Facebook friend request from a dead person and solicitations for advice and money from both major political parties.

I didn’t respond to any of them, although I was tempted on the political surveys.
