Jarrod Dyson said he knew about hard times growing up in the housing project across the street from his home church at Flowery Mount Missionary Baptist.
That hunger he experienced as a youngster fueled the competitive fire on the baseball field, where he excelled at McComb High School and Southwest Mississippi Community College.
