Children's theater workshop kicks off Monday

The Pike County Little Theatre will kick off its annual Children’s Theatre Workshop on Monday

The workshop teaches children about every part of the theater, from auditioning, to lighting and sound effects.

The workshop is 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday through July 20 for ages 8 to 13.

Rawlins searching for answers in battle with Lyme disease

The picture of health, Connie Rawlins was a fitness coach and a competitive tennis player before a tick bite saddled her with fatigue, aches and pains — and a diagnosis of Lyme disease.

Rawlins spoke about the growing prevalence of Lyme disease in the South and her journey of fighting it during a recent McComb Lions Club meeting.

Big plans in store for Alpha Center

McComb library officials say they hope Saturday’s Summer Fun-Fest at the Alpha Center will bring more attention to the Baertown library and be a launchpad to make it more relevant to the community.

The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, which is located at 414 McComb St.

South Pike eyes $17.3 M budget

South Pike School District officials say they must reduce spending or dip into reserve funds because spending in the 2012-13 budget exceeds anticipated revenue by $440,000.

The district has proposed a budget with $17.3 million in revenue — the same as the current year’s budget.
