Woman dies in fire

An east McComb woman was found dead in her house following a fire that destroyed her home Friday night.

Janice Jackson Goldman, 60, of 631 Warren St., was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m.

Coroner Percy Pittman said 911 dispatchers received the call at 8:08 p.m.

City hires financial firm

McComb selectmen, the mayor and the city administrator debated over hiring accounting firm T.E. Lott & Co. at Tuesday’s meeting.

The city board voted 5-1 to hire the Columbus company to take a close look at the city’s administrative procedures following alleged fraud within the municipal court office in February.
