Southwest baseball traveled to Scooba on Tuesday to play Pearl River and East Mississippi in a double-header, losing to the former 7-4 and beating the latter 3-0.

Matt Newman started on the mound for the Bears (15-6) against Pearl River. Newman pitched 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and three runs allowed.

South Pike girls powerlifting claims 4A South-State Championship

The esteemed South Pike powerlifting program claimed another championship Saturday, as the Lady Eagles took home the 4A South-State title.

The result punches the team's ticket to the Mississippi Coliseum for the 4A state meet.

The boys team will host its 4A South-State competition at 11 a.m. Saturday.
