The McComb Tigers got an early start on a busy weekend with two big soccer wins over district foe Mendenhall Friday.
The girls won their second game of the district schedule in a week with a 7-1 victory. Delcresha Wells scored a hat trick with the fourth, sixth and seventh goals of the game.
Desiree Mallory got the Tigers going early, scoring the first goal of both halves. Annie Artigues and Courtney Brock also scored for the girls.
The boys won 7-0 over Mendenhall. Steven Gunnell scored a hat trick, Zach Eckman put in two goals, while Richard Tuthill and Matt Codding added a goal each.
“We’re still working on chemistry and finding the right spots,” McComb head coach Michael Burkett said. “In close games I’m stuck with the players who are in because they’re playing well.
“When we get up they can relax and start playing better and more together.”
The girls sit at 2-1 in the district, while the boys are at 1-2.
McComb will play North Pike on Thursday at C.C. Moore Stadium.
