Southwest Mississippi Community College women’s assistant basketball coach Britta Stephens and assistant baseball coach Justin Hay have been promoted to administrative roles.
Stephens has been named Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Eligibility. Hay has been named Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations.
As part of her role, in collaboration with Dr. Bill Ashley, Vice-President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics, Stephens will be charged with ensuring that Southwest is in compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association, Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and U. S. Department of Education/OCR/Title IX regulations. She will also, among other things, work in conjunction with the office of admissions, office of financial aid, and office of the director of athletics to help ensure that all Southwest student-athletes are in compliance with all NJCAA and MACJC rules and regulations and are eligible for competition.
Hay will be responsible for, among other things, coordinating maintenance and preparation of the athletic facilities, facilitating all home athletic events, helping plan/conduct and facilitating special promotions for athletic events and planning/coordinating transportation for all athletic teams.
Ashley had all praise for Stephens and Hay.

With their skills they bring individual strengths; putting them together gives me the feeling that (SMCC President Dr. Steve Bishop) and I have provided the college with two people with the capacity to develop into campus leaders for the future.”
