MEADVILLE — The South Pike Lady Eagles put on a clinic, overpowering the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 52-34.
In the boys game, Franklin County won 65-39 behind a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds from junior forward Jamie Collins.
The Lady Eagles were paced by Kampatrice Slocum’s 12 points and improved to 15-6 overall. Kierra Addison added 11, and Takeya Felder had nine.
Strong defense by the Lady Eagles caused several Franklin High turnovers, which gave South Pike the cushion.
The Bulldogs (8-16, 4-4) would not let the Eagles leave with a sweep. The Bulldogs used crafty defense to slow South Pike’s up-tempo style. Franklin County got 14 points from junior guard Taylor Washington, along with Collins’ 23 points. Jarvis Hunt added nine points and Jonathan Harris six.
Franklin County overcame a 15-13 first quarter deficit, going into halftime tied with the Eagles at 29. The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 36-10 in the second half.
South Pike got a team-high 13 points from Leslie Jones. Randy Richard and Donnerick Ellzey added seven points each.
The Bulldogs resume play Tuesday night, playing host to Wilkinson County as South Pike travels to Amite County.
