South Pike’s baseball team played a doubleheader at Columbia High on Tuesday. The rainy weather forced the Eagles (2-10) to travel for the second straight home game. South Pike fell in the first contest, 18-6, and were blanked by the Cougars, 10-0.
Columbia led 16-0 at the end of the second inning. South Pike scored two runs each in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Both clubs posted five errors after a scoreless sixth and final seventh inning.
Columbia had 11 hits to the Eagles’ three.
The second game was close until Columbia (12-6) scored nine of their 10 runs in the sixth inning. The Cougars tallied four hits and one error to the Eagles’ two hits and five errors.
