The 15th ranked East Central Lady Warriors swept the Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears, Wednesday afternoon, with Southwest dropping the opener 6-0 before falling 7-1 in the nightcap.
An error and two-run homer gave East Central all the runs it would need in the fourth inning of Game 1. The Warriors added three more in the sixth and another in the seventh.
Macy Fulton took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bears, giving up all six runs (five earned) on seven hits and a walk in seven innings. She struck out two batters.
Austin Pruitt had two singles in the game for the Lady Bears, while Seana Flynn and Shaden Miller both had a hit.
East Central (30-8, 16-6) held a 7-0 lead before the Lady Bears were able to avoid the shutout in the bottom of the seventh.
Jana McEwen reached base on an error and scored four batters later on another error.
Maddy Teague took the complete-game loss for the Lady Bears (13-23, 3-19). She allowed all seven runs (six earned) while surrendering eight hits and three walks. She struck out two.
The Lady Bears were limited to one hit in the game, a single by Leann Jackson.
The Lady Bears are set to return to the diamond Saturday when they travel to Meridian to face the Lady Eagles.
The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2 p.m.
