During Thursday night’s Southwest Mississippi Community College-East Central football game at John I. Hurst Stadium at SMCC, Southwest coaches will be asking for the public’s help in finding a cure for Muscular Dystrophy in “Coach to Cure MD.”
“Coach to Cure MD” is a project by the American Football Coaches Association and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.org to help raise awareness and money to fund research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, childhood’s most prolific genetic disorder.
Before and during the game, fans have the opportunity to participate in the project as members of the Southwest baseball team will be stationed at each gate to accept donations. During the game, the SMCC coaches will wear “Coach to Cure MD” patches on their shirts.
If fans wish to donate, but are unable to do so Thursday, they can visit CoachToCureMD.org or text the word “Cure” to 90999 to donate $5 to appear on their next mobile phone bill.
