Thanks to a slow start, the McComb High School baseball team remained winless with a 15-5 loss in a district matchup at Columbia on Tuesday.
The Tigers (0-9, 0-3) trailed 11-1 after two innings and were unable to make up the deficit.
“We battled back,” McComb head coach Dominic Spinks said. “I was impressed with how our guys played. They showed their resiliency. We’ve just got to get off the bus ready to play from now on.”
Jeremiah Brown and Kendrick Butler were McComb’s pitchers. LaDarius Young was one of the team’s leading hitters.
“I think our strength right now would be our pitching even though it doesn’t show,” Spinks said. “Our pitchers are performing well on the mound. We just have to do well around them and minimize the errors that we make.”
The Tigers host Columbia at 6 tonight and play Dexter and Salem at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at Dexter.
