Three local football standouts displayed their talents in front of college coaches and recruiters in a combine-like workout over the weekend in Birmingham, Ala.
McComb’s Alex Wood-all and North Pike’s Ethan Frith and Jalen Jackson participated Saturday in the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour, a series of regional camps for athletes to showcase their skills.
Frith, a massive offensive lineman at 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, has the potential to be one of the state’s top offensive lineman. The junior helped anchor the offensive line for the Jaguars in 2012 with help from Jacob Fleming, who will play at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in the fall.
Frith received his first major offer of his young recruitment in late March from Florida State. He will be at FSU’s Spring Game this Saturday in Tallahassee and was also invited to LSU’s Spring Game later this month.
Woodall has coaches buzzing with his prototypical size for a quarterback. At 6-3, 220 pounds, Woodall has a chance to become one of the more highly touted quarterbacks in the state. He has received an offer from Louisiana Tech so far.
Jackson is a relatively unknown prospect after spending time as a wide receiver and running back in North Pike’s veer offense. The junior will likely garner small Division I offers, according to North Pike coach Chris Smith.
