The Parklane Pioneers are on a roll.
The Pioneers hope to extend a three-game win streak and earn their second Mississippi Association of Independent Schools victory Friday night when they travel to Amite, La., to take on Oak Forest Academy.
Parklane (3-2, 1-0) is anxious to return to action after its 48-6 win over Adams County Christian last Friday. Pioneeers coach Bo Milton said he wasn’t happy with his team’s overall performance.
“We looked sloppy," Milton said, “but I feel like we had some younger guys that stepped up and came through for us in the second half.”
Milton said he expects Forest Academy to feature a stingy Multiple defensive look, with four linebackers and a five-man front. The Pioneers counter with sophomore quarterback Steven Swindle.
Thus far this season, Swindle has completed 40-of-71 passes for 814 yards and eight touchdowns. He has been intecepted once and been sacked just once.
Running back Josh Armstreet is leading the Pioneers’ ground attack this season with 71 carries for 520 yards and nine touchdowns.
Milton compared the Parklane offense to that of a familiar professional team.
“It’s like (New Orleans quarterback) Drew Brees and the Saints. There’s not one particular guy that we go to,” he said. “Whoever has the hot hand will get the ball.”
Milton said he expects big games from defensive back Chance Schmidt, linebacker Shelby Johnson and defensive lineman Hunter Rey.
