The North Pike Lady Jaguars tore off their third consecutive victory to open the slowpitch softball season Monday, beating host Madison Central 12-1 in five innings.
Savannah Johnston and Breanna McKenzie combined on a no-hitter.
Johnston worked the first three innings and overcame control problems. Despite not allowing a hit, she walked 11 batters in the game.
Madison Central scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Johnston also struck out one.
McKenzie pitched two perfect innings in relief.
The North Pike offense gave the two pitchers plenty of support, tallying at least one run after a scoreless first inning.
Johnston helped her own cause, going 2-for-4 with a single, double and four runs batted in to lead the Lady Jaguars. Brianna Brister went 2-for-2 with a double and triple. She scored two runs and also drove in four.
Kelsey Lord went 3-for-3 with three singles and two runs scored, and McKenzie had a pair of hits, including an RBI single.
Alana Hopkins had a pair of hits and scored three times.
Summer Brown was 2-for-3 including a run-scoring single, while Dakota Parks had two hits, scored a run and drove in one.
Lauren Wells and LeeAnna Hill each added a hit for the Lady Jaguars.
On Saturday, the Lady Jaguars scored three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings and outlasted Brookhaven, 9-7.
Brown paced a 13-hit North Pike attack, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Lord added three singles in four at-bats. She also drove in three. Wells went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three driven in.
McKenzie, Parks, Alana Hopkins, Chameissa Gordon and Rachel Kelly each had a hit for the Lady Jaguars.
